Bienville Animal Medical Center

About Us
Your Neighborhood Animal Care Center
After being employed by Broussard Animal Hospital, Dr. Chris Duke purchased the animal hospital from Dr. Broussard’s estate after his untimely death in 1983. On the same site, Dr. Duke expanded the facility and renamed it Bienville Animal Hospital a few years later. After purchasing adjacent property to the location in 1990, the Bienville Animal Hospital was poised to expand and enlarge its configuration on Highway 90 in Ocean Springs.
Construction of the 4700 additional square feet which was added to the original 1900 square foot animal clinic was essentially a new veterinary clinic and not simply an addition. Occupancy of what was once again renamed Bienville Animal Medical Center took place in October, 1993. This newer, state of the art complex was recognized by the trade publication Veterinary Economics with a merit award in 1995.

Innovative Cancer Treatments
At Bienville Animal Medical Center, we’re proud to offer personalized cancer immunotherapy with VimClara™—a cutting-edge vaccine made from your pet’s own tumor tissue. This innovative treatment works with your pet’s immune system to help fight cancer.
Veterinary Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been used in both people and animals for thousands of years, and today it’s a safe, proven way to support healing and comfort in pets. Using very fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body, acupuncture stimulates the nervous system, improves circulation, and encourages the body’s natural healing processes.
Most pets tolerate acupuncture very well — many even relax or fall asleep during treatment. The needles are extremely thin, and placement is gentle and quick.
Sessions usually last 20–40 minutes, and your veterinarian will recommend how often your pet may benefit.
Veterinary Ultrasound
Ultrasound is one of the most valuable tools we use to understand what’s happening inside your pet — safely and painlessly. Using sound waves (not radiation), we can create real-time images of your pet’s organs and tissues to check for changes, monitor pregnancies, evaluate heart health, and even guide safe sample collection.
Most pets don’t need sedation and relax during the exam, giving us fast answers so we can create the best care plan for your pet.
Innovative Arthritis Treatments
Veterinary intra-articular (joint) injections are a targeted treatment where medication or regenerative agents are injected directly into a joint space to manage osteoarthritis, inflammation, and pain in animals, particularly dogs and horses.
These injections can be diagnostic to identify the source of pain or therapeutic, using substances like corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), or biomaterials to reduce inflammation, manage pain, and potentially support joint health. They provide localized treatment, avoiding the side effects of systemic medications and can improve an animal's quality of life.
Worried about over-vaccinating?
We understand your concern. That’s why we offer vaccine titer testing — a simple blood test that checks your pet’s immunity to core vaccines, including rabies.
Titers can help determine whether your pet is already protected and if a booster is truly needed. It’s one more way we make sure your pet’s care is personalized, safe, and effective.
