Dear Bienville Animal Medical Center Family,
It is with a mixture of tremendous gratitude, admiration, and sadness that we announce the retirement of Dr. Chris Duke, effective September 1, 2026, after more than 43 plus years of dedicated service to our patients, clients, and community.
Dr. Duke began his remarkable career with Bienville Animal Medical Center in June 1983. For more than four decades, he has been far more than a veterinarian at Bienville. He has been a trusted doctor, colleague, mentor, friend, and a familiar, reassuring presence to generations of families. He has cared for countless beloved pets throughout every stage of their lives and, in many cases, has had the privilege of caring for several generations of pets within the same family.
More than 43+ years of veterinary medicine represents thousands of patients, countless difficult decisions, joyful new beginnings, tearful goodbyes, and an immeasurable number of lives touched. Through it all, Dr. Duke has practiced with dedication, compassion, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the human-animal bond.
For those of us fortunate enough to work alongside him, Dr. Duke’s influence extends well beyond the medicine he has practiced. His experience, knowledge, humor, and devotion to this hospital have helped shape Bienville Animal Medical Center into the practice it is today. His legacy will remain an important part of who we are for many years to come.
To our clients who have trusted Dr. Duke with the care of your pets over the years, thank you. Your loyalty, friendship, and confidence in him have been an important part of his remarkable career. We know many of you will feel his retirement personally because, after more than 43+ years, the relationships Dr. Duke has built extend far beyond the examination room.
While saying goodbye to such an important chapter in Bienville’s history is difficult, we could not be happier for Dr. Duke as he begins this well-earned next chapter of his life.
Dr. Duke, from all of us at Bienville Animal Medical Center—and from the generations of clients and pets whose lives you have touched—thank you for more than 43+ remarkable years. Your impact on this hospital and our community cannot be measured simply in years. You leave behind a legacy of compassion, service, and exceptional veterinary care that will never be forgotten.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Duke on an extraordinary career and wishing him a retirement filled with happiness, relaxation, and all the things he has earned after a lifetime spent caring for others.
With our deepest gratitude and warmest wishes,
The Doctors and Team of Bienville Animal Medical Center
