Dr. Chris Duke

Dr. Chris Duke is originally from Mobile, AL and is the founder of Bienville Animal Medical Center. A 1983 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University, Dr. Duke has been an Ocean Springs resident since graduation.

He and his wife, Ann, have two grown children, Robert and Emily. Dr. Duke is and has been extremely active in both professional and civic organizations. He is a member of the South Mississippi VMA, the Mississippi VMA, the AVMA and has served for many years as Hospital Director for the American Animal Hospital Association. Dr. Duke attends St. Paul United Methodist Church. He is a long-time Rotarian, and former President of the Ocean Springs Rotary Club.

An avid writer, Dr. Duke has been published in numerous trade magazines and newspapers over his career. A member of the American Society of Veterinary Journalists, his columns appear frequently in the local press. Dr. Duke has been active in organized veterinary medicine for years, serving on numerous state veterinary committees. He has served nationally on the Board of Directors for the American Heartworm Society since 2016, and is currently serving a term as its President (2019-2022).

Although active in all phases of small animal medicine, surgery and dentistry, Dr. Duke has a special interest in cosmetic and reconstructive trauma surgery. Dr. Duke was recognized as Mississippi Veterinarian of the Year by the Mississippi VMA in 2019. Dr. Duke is licensed to practice in both Mississippi and Alabama.
